Hiya Mate is a specialised app for tradies, designed to facilitate short to mid-term hiring. Aimed at all aspects of the construction industry, we promote companies to tailor their staff size and specialisation daily, weekly or monthly, depending on fluctuating business demands. Simply put, Hiya Mate gives you the ability to hire out your Trades when work slows down or Hire Trades when work speeds up.
The team at Hiya Mate comes from a Construction and Trade background. We had the same issue managing a steady flow of business, growing your team cost-effectively and utilising staff hours.
The goal is to give Tradies a better and easier option for sourcing labour, or sourcing work. Our mission is to lift the burdens that Tradies and Business owners face every day, especially with Australias current Labour shortage.
The Problem
Staff Flexibility
It is essential for any business, large or small to maximise staff utilisation to confidently scale or predict profitability. However, workloads are rarely consistent. Currently, when workloads are high, there are labour hire services available to facilitate the shortage in your crew, but there is no option for when workloads reduce.
Scalability
Whilst business growth normally demands increased staff numbers, hiring employees is not without risk. As an employer, you need to be able to guarantee consistent work and consistent pay to confidently retain staff and keep costs low.
Labour Hire is expensive and unreliable
Current Labour Hire options carry large overhead costs and are known to pay poorly. With the shortage of labour in Australia, we have found that Labour Hire place tradies who have had little to no experience in the job they are being asked to do. They are unable to guarantee the quality of work, and no consistent hours for the tradie that works for them.

Staff Flexibility
Hiya Mate provides a place for you to improve staff utilisation. During times of reduced trade, our service allows you to temporarily “Hire out” employees to recoup wage costs that would otherwise be lost. Alternatively, during busy times or specialised projects, you can use the platform to hire any type of Tradie you require.
Scalability
Increase your own confidence to take on additional employees, knowing that you have the capacity to access alternative avenues of income in times of slow trade. Comparatively, it enables small businesses to tender for larger projects, knowing that they can easily access additional or more specialised tradies as required without overpaying.
Labour Hire is expensive and unreliable
Hiya Mate has significantly smaller overheads. Instead of utilising Labour Hire companies who notoriously over-charge, underpay and perform. Hiya Mate connects fellow experienced Tradies. After the job is complete, Hiring Companies have the option to give feedback which our team monitors. Hiya Mate has a large network of Tradies looking for those extra days. By Hiya Mate setting the Rates, we can ensure Tradies are paid more and on time, and ensure affordability for everyone in our network.
For 1x post, you can hire 5x Tradies for a maximum of 14x Calendar Days. You have unlimited monthly posts.
We have an initial profile review for every company that signs up. From there, we have a rating system that is only seen by the Hiya Mate Team.
We monitor these reviews and have a very strict policy to remove anyone receiving more than 1x negative experience.
We can't promise that everyone, will be amazing, because that is unrealistic, but we will do our best to ensure we promote our Best Mates and ensure the Quality of our platform is maintained.

Hiya Mate takes a small service fee per transaction. We aim to keep the service fee at a minimum in order to maximise Payout rates and reduce Hiring rates. You can find this on our Prices Page.
Hiya Mate goes through a manual review process to ensure every company and/or sole trader is qualified and appropriate to carry out the work that they have signed up for.
We want to ensure that you have the best experience and success on our Network.
We accept most major credit cards and debit cards. We secure a deposit per person, per day requested of 8 hours.
Once the Tradie has submitted all their timesheets, you will have 48 hours to review and either accept or challenge.
If you fail to take any action, the timesheets are assumed correct and the transaction is finalised.
We consistently monitor the quality of our working Mates from reviews to attendance. Our app has the ability to report attendance.
If anyone is reported as a 'no show', Hiya Mate will review and take the appropriate action.
Absolutely! Make sure you have the correct WHS and Insurance depending on your line of work.
Ensure you are clear about the Scope of Work including PPE requirements when posting a job.
As early as possible of course.
But as a general rule of thumb, for every tradie you need, allow 24hrs per person on your post.
For example, you need 3x tradies, post 3 days before the start date. For any post that requires Tradies for longer than 1 week, we recommend allowing 1 week before the job start.
We have 4 tiers of remuneration (please see 'what types of trade/ types do you offer?').
We offer above the market rate plus travel allowance and penalty rates (Overtime).
At Hiya Mate, our goal is to increase the payout rates each year reflecting the current Market Rates.
When all timesheets are completed and submitted.
The Hiring-in the company has a maximum of 48hrs to approve the timesheets from receiving.
Should they not respond within 48hrs, the timesheet will automatically be approved. Overall, transactions take approximately 5 business days to settle.
Workers’ compensation insurance is compulsory if you have employees. (Companies)
Public liability insurance covers you for third-party death or injury. (Sole traders and Companies)
Personal Accident Insurance (sole traders)
